Saudi Arabia is in western Asia and constitutes the majority of the Arabian Peninsula. It borders Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Yemen. The House of Saud has ruled since 1744, gaining power over two hundred years, culminating in the formation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932.
The order of succession to the throne of Saudi Arabia is determined by the members of the House of Saud. So far, the Kings of Saudi Arabia have all been sons of the first king who had forty-five sons with numerous wives. On the day King Salman became King of Saudi Arabia, his brother Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz was appointed Crown Prince. Three months later, Prince Muhammad bin Nayef, King Salman’s nephew and the grandson of the first king, was appointed Crown Prince. In 2017, King Salman once again made a change, naming his son Muhammed bin Salman as Crown Prince.
